Changing Plug Wires Empty
PostSubject: Changing Plug Wires   Changing Plug Wires I_icon_minitimeSat Aug 22, 2015 1:51 pm

May god strike dead or condemn to hell for all eternity the engineers that thought of putting a regular maintenance item like the coil pack crammed into the the back of the engine.  Good lord, you need the tiniest of little Elfin hands to do that job.  Once I decided to throw in the towel and just remove the intake manifold it went a lot faster (plus I was able to clean a lot of lacquer out of the throttle body and intake spaces).  Probably could have save about three hours if I just did that from the beginning.

But....  well worth it now.  I didn't realize how much performance was lacking.  Cleaned intakes, installed new Magnecor 8.5mm wires and some good ole Champion 2xPlatinums and it made all the difference in the world.  Prior, I got the SES light and pulled a cylinder #6 code.  Tried plugs only first, no-go.  Decided to go with wires and see if that did it.  Bingo.

Good luck with your wires if you do them.  I think an 8 year old mechanic could make a fortune changing Rover plug wires.  Just sayin'

I almost relocated it to the recycle bin and did a flywheel and hand-crank conversion.
