My name is Max Simmons, and I'm new to the group. I drive a '97 D1 that is mostly stock (in stock form it's still a better vehicle than I am a driver). After the first time I drove it, I told my wife that she didn't need to worry about buying me a casket when I die. Just recline me in the driver's seat and bury the whole rig. I live in New Haven, CT, and am always eager for an off-roading opportunity. I hope to meet other members on the trail soon.

welcome, these are great off road and nice once all the maintenance is brought up to date from the previous neglectful owners

you may want to get a jump on stuff before it breaks down and discourages you into selling it

Thanks for the welcome. I've had Lawrence (after Lawrence of Arabia) for about a year and half but have only gotten off-road three times in that period (once at the Muddy Chef, which I highly recommend to any who haven't done it). He has ensured that I made good friends with my mechanic, but so far nothing disastrous or unexpected for a 17 year-old vehicle with 147k on the clock (6k are mine): starter, ABS sensor, ignition switch, brake booster. I do say a little prayer every time I get ready to turn the key.
