| Looking for an inexpensive lr3 for my wife one I can fix is probly what I can afford so looking at this one on eBay thoughts on what could be wrong? Says smokes, and trans code and suspension stuck on normal
I am not looking to spend more then 6/7 k. Be it running for that price or cheap and can be fixed for that price

| NONE of you want to take a stab at weather this is a repairable engine like some weird common or not so common lr3 issue? | |

| I've owned my 2006 SE-V8 since 2008 and wouldn't buy an abused one thinking it'll be cheap. The first-year problems they had in 2005 were (largely) addressed in subsequent years. For a daily driver (ie. not a trail rig) I'd look for a clean, well-maintained one from a private party and negotiate hard on the price. Buying a rough one and working through the issues is a financial gamble and a sure-fire headache. | |

| Are you buying from private seller? If so look for well maintained vehicle. Records and land rover maintained. If it's a dealership hard pressed to find anything under 8 grand. Make sure you get some kind of warrantee with vehicle and anything less then 100k would be in your best interest. "SE" is nice go for the HSE if your going to spend the money anyway. V6 heard bad reviews about them V8s are gas guzzlers. See if it has locking diffs some didn't come others did. Crawl under car and check visually. (I did before buying mine) one of the other lr are sites have pictures of what it looks like. Regular maintainance stuff like brakes oil change are easy. The technical stuff is a lot harder since regular mechanics might (most likely not) not have software for these cars. I currently have issues with GPS and control screen. I have to take it to lr bec I cannot find anyone with software. If your going to go lr3 go 06 + worked out kinks last of the lr3 the better.
Good luck eitherway. | |

| Congrats and hope things work out but at that price I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling. Just be prepared for dry anal sex when you need to fix something. It's not a d1. | |

| Congrats, I wouldn't buy the cheap Chinese parts either. It'll cost you in the long run. | |

| Suspension and trans are supposed to be fine, dealer replaced the pump and fixed a wiring issue for the pump | |

| gotta be honest. save for the suspension bushings, the old pumps, and the fact that it eats front pads, rotors every 10-15k miles, the LR3 is one hell of a reliable truck.
i bought a high mile truck on the cheap, had the work i knew it needed done...and never ever gave me a problem.
i would do a transmission service if it's at 100k (even though the book says no big deal) and change the diff fluid.
your last post was 9 days ago...so all this may be in vain. i'm just saying...it's a good truck

| All in the works, at this point I am waiting for a spot at dads probly just gonna start with timing cover and valve covers if I don't see an issue gonna pull the engine and check the crank
I know I have to buy a special tool for the timing set
Just been hitting the little things, fixed key remote, was, vacuum, lift shocks on rear glass, scrub some spots in carpet, unsieze rear wiper arm hing and make a blade
This is the smoothest running engine with a knock I ever saw
