| My name is Max Simmons, and I'm new to the group. I drive a '97 D1 that is mostly stock (in stock form it's still a better vehicle than I am a driver). After the first time I drove it, I told my wife that she didn't need to worry about buying me a casket when I die. Just recline me in the driver's seat and bury the whole rig. I live in New Haven, CT, and am always eager for an off-roading opportunity. I hope to meet other members on the trail soon. | |

| welcome, these are great off road and nice once all the maintenance is brought up to date from the previous neglectful owners
you may want to get a jump on stuff before it breaks down and discourages you into selling it | |

| Thanks for the welcome. I've had Lawrence (after Lawrence of Arabia) for about a year and half but have only gotten off-road three times in that period (once at the Muddy Chef, which I highly recommend to any who haven't done it). He has ensured that I made good friends with my mechanic, but so far nothing disastrous or unexpected for a 17 year-old vehicle with 147k on the clock (6k are mine): starter, ABS sensor, ignition switch, brake booster. I do say a little prayer every time I get ready to turn the key. | |
