| here are my thoughts on the new DC 100 concept- First off the winch and the recovery points are missing from the "sport" edition. I honestly don't think the redesign of the body is all that bad. I do have some problems, one is clearance. It's lower than a series 1 at the sill. The rims are massive so airing down to hit the trails is not an option. With only 2 full size seats you are appealing to a very small market. I'd like to see it sit 2" higher maybe that will be an airbag adjustment in the terrain-I. Instead of 20" rims go down to at least 18". The Toyota FJ comes with a rear locker, why not put a locker in? With all the sophisticated electronics systems such as the sonar and spiked tires (sounds like a 6yr old was on the concept team) I can only imagine the electonics nightmares you could have out on the trail. I had enough of those with my Discovery 2. The Defender is about rugged reliability. I hope they don't lose that trying to gain market share. What are your thoughts? | |

too bad that is not going to be made. lol. someone created that in photoshop. the regular 100 they showed had a winch on the front and recovery points all around. the sport edition only had recovery points in the back and no winch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRbDcW28Ias&feature=share

| I'd like it more if it looked like that photoshopped pic. 4 doors would have been the way to go. I'm not a fan of the 20's and I agree when the hell are we going to get a locker in a stock vehicle? Jeep has em Toyota has em - damn land rover.
If they cut back on all the crazy technology and just went with the stuff that mattered then they would be in better shape. Whats the retail going to be? I am scared to ask.

| Yeah its not like im gonna be able to afford one untill they are 20 years old and $2000. Im dissapointed in the suspension, independent front and rear but adjustable air ride is slick. | |

| my guess is it will be around the evoque, LR4 pricing. I would guess $50,000. So we get it here in 2015 for $50k by 2023 they will be affordable as a used rig. You would guess they would be around $5,000 by 2023 but who can fix your spiked wheel sensor and sonar at that point. I hope they make it easy to not only disable but remove these options without causing other problems. I would hate to have the starter disabled if you remove the sonar sensor. | |

| I wonder if itll have enough shit to yank the green DI to the trails lol. Yeah some of them options just make me a little scared on durability. I can say the only newer LR vehicle that apeals to me is the L322 RR with the BMW 4.4. | |

This is all true - So I am probably going to have to pick up a D90 and then a LR3 before I can own one. Sounds like a plan to me. Here's a video - I like the look of it more in person. Still cant get over the 20" rims though wtf? http://www.landrover.com/gl/en/lr/defender-concept/dc100/

| Presumably both can still mud-plug? Of course, and a transfer case provides both high and low ratios for on- and of-road driving, a new electronic torque vectoring systems aids both on- and off-road handling, and the Driveline Disconnect switches both DC100s to front-wheel drive running unless extra traction is needed. The rear propshaft is physically disengaged from the centre diff (rather than engine power being electronically diverted) and Land Rover claims this can improve fuel consumption by up to 7%. Land Rover’s Terrain Response system lets the driver switch between different modes for sand, mud and gravel. These concepts also preview a future version of Terrain Response, which can identify potential hazards and advise safe routes around them. Cameras scan the terrain ahead, identify it, and adapt the electronics automatically – the system can also map the terrain in 3D, and present it on the display screen. A sonar system helps with wading, and there are on-demand spiked tyres, which inflate when a secondary air chamber in the carcass is inflated, filling pods moulded into the tread which contain the spikes.
I like the idea of the camera scanning terrain and making 3D maps. I wonder how the spiked tires are going to work out. Thats just nuts.
