| So as you all know I put my truck into the stupid massive mud pit at Rausch and took in water. When I left RC I think I had like 4-5 Cyl full time. Got a set of spark plugs thanks to Brian S and got it home. I believe MAF is dead and is just fouling plugs left and right. Truck is still smoking and I think I still have water in oil after first oil change. Ran it the other day and before I turned it off it made some unusual noises. It's weird because you would think if it was a bad con rod it would make noise full time. Either way I am going to do a compression test this weekend, change maf, new set of plugs and swap some fluids and see where that takes me. If anybody wants to lend me a hand it would be greatly appreciated. Needless to say I think I am more afraid of water than Kase is. Maybe a dying dizzy is the fool proof way of killing your truck before you hydrolock it. If all else fails I see Randy has a 4.6 GEMS for sale I might do that swap. Either way I think Betsy has seen better days.. On a side note once this is sorted or maybe even instead of sorting it I'm seriously looking into importing a diesel defender (with a snorkle ). Also interested in SWB with an LT230 already swapped in if anybody sees one. | |

Cool, could you do saturday AM? I know the GF wants to go to Ikea Sunday. Nick was also talking about doing the Trails Rd thing this weekend and if I get the truck in good running order I may also be interested.

For sure, you have the joints that you need? centering ball kit and all? Mine shouldnt take that long and I need to change a ujoint on mine too but plan on doing that before this weekend.

Good deal, I hate doing centering balls, more than anything (except starters)... But since you're a good dude and willing to help me out, I'll help a brother out.

| I think I might be on to something.. Plugs fouling bad with residue means it's oil. Went to change oil and it was going into valve cover slowly... Crank case breather bad? Would explain why oil took so long to go into engine. Still praying it's not a piston ring or con rod. This would also explain why oil was lower when I got home and why it looked bad. Pcv Valve coming off tomorrow for inspection. | |

| I still think it might be the ecu. Have you tried swapping in a known good ecu to see what happens? | |

Don't I have to swap in alarm ecu too? Have you ever done this?

| Did a compression test today both wet and dry with not much variance. The numbers all read pretty high 180-210 PSI not sure if engine wasnt warm enough or what was going on. Did a block test and didnt get any exhaust gas from coolant. flushed oil again now it's starting to look clean. However it is still smoking. Two of the cylinders seem to be running really rich which I think is causing the misfires. I'm leaning more towards ECU after seeing how good of shape my engine appears to be in. I am going to put new gas in it tomorrow and see if maybe I have water in the tank causing the issue. I would think the truck wouldnt want to run on heavily diluted fuel. If this doesnt solve it I am off to UK motors to get a second opinion. Plus they have all the nice computer hardware and can get all the good readings. | |

| Family day today (Saturday) but I can run down with an ECU tomorrow.
180-210 seems normal to me.
Water in gas does not mix. water goes to the bottom and will cause the truck to no-start if above the intake. But, you already knew that...
Plus there's always dry gas.

| So here's an update ladies
Bank B seems to be running extremely rich and thats why the plugs are dying so quickly. I am thinking bad ECU or bad O2's.. and the white smoke is unburnt fuel hitting the cat. I notice my exhaust smells like fuel and seems to be leaking some soot. Something is sending a bad signal.. I may try swapping the o2's but my scan gauge tool wont be here for a week. The smoke happens at higher RPM's.
I am not losing any fluids, oil, fine, tranny, fine, coolant, fine from what I can tell.
I am fairly stumped at this point. Going to call my local shop tomorrow and see what he has to say.

| So.. Thanks to Dave for coming down to help me out today, knocked a lot of things out but still in a stage of "who knows?!"
leak down showed cylinder holds air compression coming in at 180 swapped coil swapped spark plug cable swapped injector let cylinders soak for a couple days in marvel mystery oil
STILL oil fouling #8. Smokes mostly under heavy throttle.
