| I'm thinking i'll prob mount the actual radio in my center console box or on the passenger side of the center console. But i need to figure out how to mount, or make a mount for my antenna. I was thinking of mounting it on the spare tire carrier and running the wiring through the hole where my washer nozzle tube comes out. also thought about mounting it on the bumper and just running it through the door. anyone have any feedback ? i like the look of this bracket if anyone can identify it or one like it. | |

| My radio is up where the sunroof switches would be. My antenna is on the spare tire, wire going through the washer grommet. | |

| I've got the cable with the flex ring mounted to my tire carrier with a 4 ft firestick. I've never been able to get a good clean signal despite re-grounding the whole setup several times...after running the line through the window washer tube hole, fishing it through the wiring harness, up the d-pillar and under the headliner I can't tell if it ended up kinked or just wrecked in some other way, but so far the fire-ring cable has been more of a PITA than it's worth. I can't say use the Firestick components again...at least not on the tire carrier. | |

I also still havent drilled to put a grommet in so I am shutting my cable in the door lol I wonder if it's the ring that doesnt want to ground. Does it have a seperate wire to ground to the mount?

Yes, and I've run a ground wire all the way to the grounding point for rear lights and trailer harness. (All of which work nicely.) I'll get around to either fixing it or replacing it in the next month or two before I consider going to the Winter Romp. The fire-ring was supposed to make things easier. I'm just pissed that it doesn't work right, so I haven't bothered to screw around with it since ROTR.

| I used a regular cable. I had to cut off one end to fit it through the door grommet, but I bought a new end at Radioshack for cheap. | |

I can't say use the Firestick components again...at least not on the tire carrier. reviews for the cable on amazon say the "ring" is double sided like a coin, maybe try turning it over and see what happens? people were saying they had that problem and that was the fix.

yea this is the plan I just need to figure out how to get into the door I guess I can probably follow the rest of the wires. Need to pull the panel. I like getting a new end for it too cause then I can take all the slack out and make it real clean.

| K40 makes a damn good heavy duty cable with a removable end. Thats what I run on my over the road truck and my D1. I do hear a lot of complaints about mounting the antennas on the spare tire carrier but I never had any problems out of mine.
On the other hand I never heard of anyone that used any firestik product and had good luck with it. Id save my pennies and go with Wilson or K40 products.

| shortening the cable will affect the swr.............and PLEASE don't use the meter on the radio to tune the system.get a tuner or go and get it tuned at a CB shop.if Ur good with an iron put the end back on yourself. and check it with a multimeter when Ur done to make sure Ur not shorted. | |
