| SO tore down the old 4.0 after the dunk at rausch creek that seemed to ruin my engine. Cyl #8 was burning oil, smoking and fouling plug. Rings looked fine, valves looked fine, still need to test valve stem seals but this is the only thing I found... Oil seemed to be seaping past the head gasket and into the cylinder. I cannot figure out how this would happen and I wouldnt be losing coolant or getting oil in my coolant. Here's a pic of the top end, everything looked super clean Here's a pic of the block, cylinder walls looked great, piston rings looked good, piston rods looked good, heads looked good, cam, tappets, valves looked good. hell it all looked good except it could use new rod and main bearings. Now I just have to decide what I want to do with it | |

I may just cam it and use the money from a crank and pistons to regear.. Improve gas milage and help out off road too... OH and bigger tires to off set the better gas milage And I dont have to do this right away which means money going into a welder and spending time to make the other disco a bobbed trayback..

the cold water on our hot aluminum blocks can cause havoc, especially when u suck it in the intake!

| Go bigger than 4.6 Use the 4.6 crank, then call Dan Lagrou at D&D Fabrications. http://www.aluminumv8.com/Bore it out, fit tophat liners, install bigger pistons, and turn it into a beast. | |

Bore it out, fit tophat liners, install bigger pistons, and turn it into a beast. I like the way you think thats just gonna cost some serious $$ even bearings, rings, cam, crank and pistions are pricey.. Here's some interesting info http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/40difference.htm

I dont think it was so much a matter of water temp I think what happened was my engine got deep cleaned like a mother when that water went in there and the crap that was sealing it got washed out... I am going to drip some oil down into the bolt holes and make sure there is no cracks in he block too.

I used seafoam after it had started smoking (trying to get any remaining water out of oil). The water that was sucked in cleaned it up really good. The oil was BLACK when I got it home and dumped it out the first time. Just so you guys know, you cant see water on top of oil on the dip stick either if the truck hasnt been turned on since it took in water. But by the time I got home I barely had oil on the dip stick cause it had all burned off. They used to use water back in the day to clean out engines, now I can see why!
