| after talking with Brett, he ripped his foam out of his truck and put the carpet back down. i was thinking of possibly doing something similar but maybe cutting the carpet, ripping the foam out and replacing it with something else that i can remove that would be waterproof that could help with sound. maybe something like this? ... trying 2 think out loud. http://www.allnoisecontrol.com/products/WaterProofBaffles.cfm | |

Jake, Have you pulled the carpet/foam? If it's always wet, then you've probably already got holes. Look what I found in my Red D1 when I pulled the carpets from the front seats... The driver side was worse. It looks like the rot started under the plastic door sill panels (that cover the transition from sill to carpet) at each of the screw holes...

| I cut my front carpet out with a razor knife from the front seat mount along the base of the tunnel up to the firewall.I ripped the foam off and it was soaked. The driverside had holes and rot along the footwell and all along the firewall.I used resin and fiberglass to fill the holes and seal the floor. On the outside (inner fenderwell) I sealed it up with bondo and then gave it several coats of underbody coating. Its not pretty but its watertight and should slow the rust down. | |

This is what I plan on doing this summer.. Any pics? I should just take the foam out and I am sure that would fix half the problem right away..
