| Hey guys i'm looking for a pair of rock slider. I'm not to worried if they are old, new, beat up... don't care. But i'm looking for a cheap set, don't really want to pay over $250. Would preferable like tree bars on them, but i'll take whats available if any. Only requirement is that they need to fit a '04 Disco II. Let me know if you know of anyone, or anywhere to get a set.
Thanks, AJK | |

Thanks, AJK watcha smokin' boy? I paid almost $500 for used RTE's (for a D1)... AND, I was happy to pay it! They just don't come up. Let Randy know, if any one will get them, it's him. Good Luck.

off ebay with shipping for $450 new Are those the ones you have? Be careful with the step. If it's not one piece the nerf can twist up and will hit the doors evey time you open or close them. Ask me how I know.. The RTE's I have have taken a beating but I am going to weld the two pieces together to hopefully at least keep the nerf from hitting the door.

| Some slider designs are 2 pieces that sandwich the rocker sill. Some designs are one piece that wrap around and encase the sill. | |

Bingo the rovertym sliders have the slider itself and then an L shaped backing plate that goes on the back side of the sill and is all attached by thru bolts. I think they thought the riv-nuts would prevent the slider from twisting upwards when the nerf is hit. By my sills are so deformed it doesnt work at all.. You helped me install my sliders... remember?

| Better yet, find a local fab shop and have them build ones that don't mount to the rocker panels at all. Mine bolt straight through the body mounts and you guys have watched me bounce off rocks and trees without ever banging the sliders up... | |

hey dcarr, curious if you ever took pictures of how you mounted yours? I'm thinking about just fab'ing a set up, and would really like to see how you mounted yours. Thanks

Thanks Sorry, Things have been nuts and I didn't get a chance to shoot pics of how they're mounted. I brought the truck home from the Wilds yesterday and just left it with my friend who fabs stuff for me so he can build steel rear bumper for me. Basically, the sliders have two 1.5x1.5 square tubes coming off them with 3/8 steel tabs welded on. The tubes are positioned so that the front one lines up with the trailing edge of the front body mount coming off the frame, and you attach it with two 3/4" grade 8 bolts running through the tabs and then through a couple holes drilled in the body mounts. The rear mount is the same as the front, but the whole this is set up to hit the leading edge of the rear body mount. I beat my sliders pretty hard, and they've survived ROTR 3, 'The Annual' at RC and Anthracite (check out the video of me in the creek bed over on the other thread, the sliders saved HUGE amounts of damage), the Maine Winter Romp, plus multiple encounters with rocks and trees on other trips. I wouldn't hesitate to mount them the same way if I did it over again...
