Against my better judgement...

Well here we are again. After my 02 D2 was totaled I vowed to not buy another play truck for a while. But now I'm changing jobs (hopefully sooner than later) and need a vehicle. I've looked at 1/2 ton trucks (too big for trails), Mid sized trucks (too small for me to fit in), and realized that none of them would be unique or really fun to own.

I've looked at.
Ram 1500
F150
Silverado 1500
Hummer H3
Chevy Colorado
Yota Tacoma
Land Cruiser
FJ Cruiser

I was ready to spend up to 23000 on a vehicle, and honestly nothing i've found in the range really does anything for me.

So with that. I'm looking for help from the experts in locating good D1 or 03/4 D2 candidates. I've found a fair share of them in the 8-10k range with moderate miles (60k) but I know guys like Jake have a knack for finding great trucks for like 2000 bucks.

Either way. Good to be back. Hopefully I'll have something in the next 3-4 weeks.

Let me know if you have more specifics I'll start to dig and see what I can come up with..

god damn 10K?! I know it's an 04 but I would never pay that for rover that will probably break down the day you drive it off the lot

A - interested in a Defender? You could easily find a ROW diesel defender for less than what you had budgeted. And then you will have something fun to drive around and obviously the benefit of it being a diesel.

You could get the guy down to 8k easy. The guy selling my Rover wanted 12k for it and I got him down to 9k and I would have gone down to 8k but when I saw how much the two bumpers came to I decided that 9k was a good deal.

if i had 15k i would buy a Diesel rover in the UK, have a frame off done over there and then put another 5k worth of lift and tyres and such in it, and the last 3k to ship it here. like steve did.

Thanks for the finds guys. All of them are awesome in their own right. but being that this will be my primary vehicle I'd like to start with a nice clean lower miles truck just because i plan on DD/trail duty for at least another 3-4 years. Unless there is one that's already built for trail action.

This one looks great. I'm going to check it out over the weekend and see what comes up. Theres a few other similar trucks on autotrader. Looks like i'm going to be steering towards the 03/4, preferably a 4 for the CDL already being hooked up. The universal socket setup worked great and never came off (even when the truck was smashed from the rear and sent rolling into a telephone pole in park...) and was easy to install, but if I can get an 04 thats already set up. why not?
