| I'd say if you are going with something like that, try get it in a diesel. Better MPG AND you can pull trees out of the ground. | |

| i wouldn't buy a truck that was used for plowing. but that's me. only reason i suggested was petrol engine was because I'm assuming you would want to do the maintenance yourself. | |

I agree on the plowing note. I cant do maintenance on a diesel engine?

He knows I have learned pretty much all I know about Rovers in the past year and a half im not diminishing your learning curve or mechanical abilities. my point is when I purchase a vehicle I like to do a full inspection and maintenance. When i had the chance to buy a series 3 with a diesel in it, the diesel was not running good and needed work. I had not a clue what was the problem. Sure I could have spent hours researching what was wrong and how to repair it but at the time i wanted something i could fix from the start without a learning curve. If learning to work on diesel engines is your goal then awesome. If you are just looking for a tow rig that you can easily do a full service on upon purchase then stick with the petrol. as state previously diesels are expensive which means you will end up with an older truck if you are looking at the same budgetary constraints.

| im sure eventually i will get on the diesel train for they are reliable. but for now just thinking about High-tech glow plugs, pre-, start and post-glowing makes my head spin. i still have loads to learn about the two trucks i have. like why did they put a drain in the gutter that allows water to drain into the rear air circulation unit of my classic.... | |

lol, nothing high tech about them. They are just resistors that get red hot when you put current through them so that they can heat up the cylinder. I had a Jetta diesel in college that I worked on, rebuilt the whole top of the engine (due to me being a dumb ass).
