New guy from CT

Hey everybody my name is Bill and im from Vernon, CT, and i am a TSgt in the Air force and work full time up at the ct air national guard base as a hydraulic mechanic. I recently purchased a 1997 land rover SE and i love the thing I dont know what it is about it but I just love it. I have been into drag racing for a long time, but i have always had this nagging need/want to get into haveing fun off road. I have been watching all the clubs outing vids and i hope one day i can join in. I have a little work to do on the rover (replace a brake line, un freeze the diff lock lever lol maybe some new tires) but other than that she runs strong. I hope to learn a lot from the forum and maybe meet some fellow enthusiasts.

welcome Bill! just pop that console off and start spraying the cdl linkage with penetrating oil and working it loose. after a few days of spraying and working it should come free.

yeah i grew up in waterford which is right by the shoreline. Then I moved up to more central ct but i sure do miss the coast lol.

I did this in 20 minutes at an event. That included drilling off the cover on the tunnel. True, the console was not back in place for the event but I drove that event.

I sprayed it with pb blaster from the under side got it to move from 4h up to 4L but couldnt get it to move over to the left to lock the cdl.

If you can get the boot off, put a screw drive in there and repeatedly pull it over to the side (toward CDL). This is what I did and eventually it moved.

I just can't remember if you can get to the linkage box by just removing the boot. I had my whole tunnel opened up. Plus you have a D2 so...
