| They work well, we used big channel locks to hold the old shock or vice grips on the stem | |

| hmm.. not sure if i have channel locks big enough. the damn stem is so tiny on the shocks this truck has. on my terrafirma i was able to use vice grips to grab the shock where it tapers into the bottom mount. | |

| I've tried vise grips, but never had much luck unless the shock is in pretty new shape.
For the price, it might be worth a shot, but you'll want to confirm that it fits. (Some of the reviews said the stem socket is indexed and that it didn't fit certain vehicles.) If it were me, I might try spending the extra $7 and get it from a local auto parts store so I could return it if it's no good.

| I used my dewalt 18 volt, 300 ft lbs
Which nut will not come off? Tops on front? If so remove shock and tower and try cocking shock in tower, also try prying up on the large washer below the nut, you are just trying to increase the friction on the shock so the nut will come off.
If nyloc nut you can heat it with a propane torch to melt out the nylon then impact while hot.
Use a nut splitter.
rear upper be careful and soak good with lube, I broke off both mounts in the jy removing my bilstien shocks | |

| I JUST swapped my upper shock towers, front shocks the nuts would not come off, found cocking the gun on angle and reversing in short bursts got the nut off | |
