| Since I'm new to the land rover community I was wondering about the owners and how they treat one another? I see some post saying at events there are some what of a snooty crowd here and there. I just wanted to hear experiences of others. I never judge a book by its cover but accept that some do. I get a lot of looks from my apperance with most of the crowd I find myself around In the first place, I get the stink eye while eating at Ruth's Chris " why's that tattoo'd mexican looking dude eating here, shouldn't he be valet parking my car" lol, just wanted to know If I'll be deaing with that while Im getting dirty out in the woods too. | |

| You'll always have the snooty people in every croud it doesnt matter what you drive. I get the same looks like "whats a truck driver doing driving a land rover" and "he must be rich he has 2 land rovers". But once you meet other enthousiast it really a tight knit group. For the most part were just a bunch of average guys and easy to get along with.
I go off roading with my buddy and his Jeep group sometimes, I'll get the normal WTF are you doing off roading that thing it has leather seats type thing but were all about 1 thing and thats having a good time. I guess its kinda easy to stereotype when these things new arent the norm for most people to own.

| I've never felt that there was a snooty factor, especially with the people that I've met. All of the LR guys I've met and wheeled with were very down to earth, friendly guys. Then again, I don't go out much with the EXPO crowd. Ed is the closest to that that I know of. Come to the hotel Friday night of ROTR, bring a six pack of beer, and meet some good people. While there's sure to be an asshole or two, we're lucky to have one of them in our own group. | |

Much of what I figured. There is always that guy I come from the Toyota celica community which is a bunch of kids so you don't get shit about tattoos, guess im just hoping it'll be the same way with this community so I can meet and maintain friendship with some good guys, have a good time wheelin, bbq etc. I already get shit from my co workers over the discovery, they think its for rich people and it doesn't help that they already think Im loaded:) I try to explain to them that i paid next to nothing for it but... They also think because i don't live pay check to pay check and have a in ground pool Im rich lol. Anyway thanks for the info. Guess come ROTR I'll figure it out first hand.

| Yea you find the right group of guys on this forum for sure. Everybody we wheel with is awesome, down to earth great guys. I have not met somebody in our group that I didn't like or thought they were stuck up. I am really excited for the up coming trips.
For real though, I feel poor for owning a disco and not a D-90 lol.

There's at least 3 members here that come from the import community. Me, billy, and stan all had 240sx's. In fact, Stan just bought another s14.

| If you find another Rover person wheeling their truck you will get along fine. The soccer moms and people who have Rovers as status cars, I ignore them.
I get more issues from Jeep people, "You should have gotten a Jeep" type stuff. Then I walk over stuff with no drama or even wheel spin sometimes. That always shuts them up.
After that everything is good.
I have been wheeling for about 20 years, my last truck was a 72 Bronco, literally just rusted away. I got the Disco 3 years ago, because I did not want a Jeep like everyone else. If the right Jeep had come along during my search I would be wheeling a Jeep.

| I've found the LR community is just like any other. I was/am a member on a couple other LR forums and you get the same know-it-alls, and the same general trolls and morons that you'd get in any other automotive club setting.
I'm really glad i found NELRC, this group seems very cool and into the same kinds of things I'm into, which is wheeling and having a good time.
Before rovers i was in the new body GTO's and that was an interesting mix between the old heads that owned a 65gto and the new kids that got them for cheap V8 power.

Aw shucks, thanks! We're not lettin' the tattooed Mexican in, right guys? Honestly Nick, I had a bit of the same concern. I can't stand stuck up pricks. I am a card carrying asshole but it is all in fun. NELRC is your kind of people - that's why I love it. We wheeled with ROAV this past summer and they seemed a little stiff. Too much into their roof top tents and outdoorsy catalog clothes. There are a couple snobs that like to pick at your truck but they are not in the club and actually OK to wheel with. Once you recognize that they can be dicks you just have to ignore it. Me? I'll just bust your balls. as well as my own. welcome

Its weird. You don't "officially" get into the NELRC; you just kind of end up a member. Green card? We don't need no...

Fuck Ed (that's not a bad thing, he has that big tent with a cot). I don't work on D2's. Besides Brett, you are a "member" in anyone's book...
