The NELRC Annual - 6/8/12 - 6/9/12

What time are you starting to wheel sat. see if I can drive out and ride along

I'm guessing we meet there around 9 and split up the groups. Groups start heading out anywhere between 9:15 and 10am.

Well, fixed Crazy Red. Getting the top starter bolt out sucked and ultimately required a welder and an allen key socket.

The wife and kid #2 have decided to bail out on the trip, so I'm just bringing my 11 yr old daughter.

Going to try to catch a couple hours of sleep, pack the D2 up, grab some groceries and be on the road to Rausch Creek by 5:00 AM. If I miss you guys in the parking lot, someone please shoot me a message with what CB channels you're using and what section of the park you're planning to run...

I'm probably hitting the parkway north around 3-330. Other than a stop at the Franklin Hill Vineyards store in Easton, I'm expecting to go right to camp-a-while, and set up camp, and the rc group should be arriving around then. How early I can leave depends on how early I can drop my daughter off at my in-laws.

Mustache is ready to go! I'll be at RC probably around 7:30-8

I dont think I am going to be able to make it tomorrow. Should have left with Don and Bossman, lol. I sprained my ankle. It was the first time that has ever happen. I was surprised at just how loud the pop from my ankle was. If the swelling is down when I wake up tomorrow morning I will reassess my ability to drive out.

Apologize for being a no show, upside is the swelling has gone done.

Had an awesome time today, even though I had to take it off the trail after we were out for 2 hours and my truck dumped out all of the PS fluid suddenly (luckily, doesn't look like a blown pump). I have some awesome carnage shots of everyone else's trucks though. James was the only one who came out of the trail without body damage from our group I think, but he managed to blow out at least one window - just not his own. hahahaha

It was great seeing everyone again today and meeting some new people. Wish we could have wheeled and hung out more but after I blew out my 2nd window, I decided to quit while I was ahead. Sorry we couldn't say bye to everyone, thought we were all pulling off the trail ahead but I was kinda rushed to a guide to take me back to the gate. Turf, Ed and James, Lexi and I had a great time hanging with you guys and look forward to wheeling with you all in the future.

That one creek bed was definitely awesome. Lots of carnage there but a good technical trail.

Phone was dead all day so this is back at the house.

Pretty sure I still have an extra piece of quarter glass I pulled off a 95 disco at a yard. Not sure what side but guess it doesn't matter at this point. It doesn't have the antenna in the glass but let me know if you want it and I'll have one of the monkeys at my shop box it up and ship it to you. You're not far from me anyway.

We got a look at the knot on the tree you hit. What a random hit.

That creek bed was insane!

On our way out we noticed someone was leaking some fluid on the trail. Small trails here and there. Well guess who it was, ME.

I whacked my diff guard so hard on that creek bed that we snapped both welds on either side of the QT. It ripped a small hole in the axle housing. Managed to get it home by stuffing the hole with paper towels and rags.

Billy if James has one side i can pick the other up from Paul Grant this weekend for you. unless you want to scan the scrap yards and just replace the whole panel with the glass in it.

Was great meeting you James, i didnt know u popped a hole in the diff, i always carry some JB weld with me we could have patched it up, either way glad you made it home. You should see if you can get the entire third off Jake's truck he is parting out.

Thanks again for having me out man, I definitely had a blast. We didn't realize there was a hole until we were already on the road and at a stop to air up. Is what it is, and not to bad to fix. I'm going to put that guard up on some of the forums and see if anyone bites. It's been nothing but a pain in the ass.

Ed, it was a really well run event, and it was fun to get out to a park I've never been to before, so thanks! Our guide (the younger guy) was really good I felt (even though I was driving a truck I was watching and listening to him). He brought us up some technical areas where there was some definite carnage, but it wasn't without him warning everyone of the possibilities at least a few times. He worked a small distance at a time for each truck to ensure a truck completed the most technical area(s) before letting the next truck on up. He also showed us some of the trails to be completed in the next year, which was cool, and some trails he walked us on because he didn't want to bring our trucks on them. Antrhacite is HUGE and it was pretty incredible to go into the woods and not see any of the other groups the rest of the day.

My PS pump ended up working OK on the way home - it popped a hose on the trail that I was able to tighten down enough back at camp for the ride home. It was the best I could have hoped for, actually...a blown pump would have sucked.

I'll post up my photos later when I'm not on the gf's computer.

Ed, is there going to video of this event like past events. I love to see what Anthracite has to offer.

I had a freaking blast man!! Great event even though I missed Rausch. Some of the trails we hit were black/reds at Rausch. Our trail guide was awesome and was willing to smash his truck into a tree to show us how to climb up a hill.. We were on two trails for hours but it was still a good time.

hey JT sorry no video from Anthracite. i only shot video at Rausch. I was posting pics from Jake and Turf and ones that I took up on our Facebook page. Just shared two that AOAA posted on their page.

I'm glad you all had a good time and I hope we can get another permit to do it again when they get some more trails cut. We already have ROTR at Rausch so perhaps this will be our annual event location. After seeing such a big turnout and the size of the property i'm looking forward to seeing allt he other trails they can cut and the places they can set up campsites. Brett, Brian and myself were on the other side of the property from you guys and there was some really great stuff over there as well. Nice hill climbs and some lookouts and little hills on a lake and of course a mine fire we came across that was the craziest thing i have seen in PA.

That sucks but there will be other times for me to get out there it not like it far from home. I saw all the pics posted on F.B. Good stuff Didn't you ever see Centralia? Its on 61 pretty much a straight shot from Shamokin It's creepy to drive through, if I remember there is still one house standing.
