After finishing shopping I got out and smelled what smelled like burning wire-brake smell coming from the rear passenger. I pulled the tire checked the brakes and everything seemed to be in working order with no warning lights. anybody have any tips on what to check next I'm stumped.

Just for shits and giggles check your exhaust system, I got a plastic bag stuck to it once and had that smell.

take a closer look at the rear brakes, look in between the rear rotor and backing plate
you may have gear oil leaking from the diff through the bearing seals and onto the rotor
and brake pads, or a caliper thats hanging up on the slide pins or piston.

Drove it in the snow we got over the past couple days. One day smelled brakes the other didn't smell anything. Going to replace all 4 corners. Any recommendations for pads.

I"d suggest pulling the wheels and check that the calipers still 'float', ie: the calipers slide on two pins and move around slightly. If they are stuck, they'll drag and heat everything up.

I just ordered a rotor/ceramic pad kit from r1 concepts. I'll let you know my thoughts after I install them next week.

Update:
Had a few hours to work on it this weekend. followed a co workers suggestion that there might be air in the lines. Bled it and added fluid. in the test drive it didn't smell and it didn't feel like it was sticking. Going to order that brake kit Brian suggested all replace all 4 corners.
