| my big 8 person Kelly is getting old and last year it had let some water in during a rainy night in the Pines and at Conclave one of the pole holders ripped pretty badly. I have had the tent since 2000 so I'm happy with 13 years out of a $120 tent from Sears. As much as I would like an OZ Tent I can't justify spending over a grand on another big tent, not to mention it's like 6.5 feet long when packed. I'm thinking I will get one big tent and one smaller tent. The small tent I'm thinking of getting is the Teton cot tent to go along with my cot. The other small tent I like is the Malamoo Xtra which is a tent made by the company who makes the OZ tent however it's a heck of a lot cheaper, lighter, and sets up in 3 seconds, 1/10th the time of the OZ tent.... As for big tents i think im going to get the Coleman 8 person instant, it's priced right, packs up smaller than the OZ and for the most part has good reviews and is easy to setup. I know it's not the ideal 4 season tent, i can't imagine it will be very good in a hurricane either... but for beach camping and weekend events like conclave it will be comfy! anyone else have suggestions? | |

| I'm sure that Coleman is anything but 'instant'. I'd check out the OZ tent you've got above.
I've had a lot of tents over the years. Most have their upsides and down. I've found that I prefer aluminum poles over fiberglass, and a nylon(-ish) floor over poly-xxxx...beyond that everything comes down to ease of setup/teardown, weight, what I'm planning to do with it, and price...

Holy crap. My experience with Coleman tents has been that they break down sooner than others and start to leak, but I have to admit that if you're looking for a cabin tent, that is a pretty cool system... If it's cheap enough go for it.

| I like that Oz tent, and i've been looking to get something a little bigger. I have a 1 person tent, but its just to small for most of the camping I do. Only works well for backpacking (obviously) That Malamoo Xtra looks sweet, mainly because i'm 'challenged' when it comes to setting up tents (ex. ROTR) only thing is where do I buy one?? Oztent.com their checkout system is down and known of those phone numbers work. The only other spot wanted some crazy $270 for it, when Oztent offered it for $220. Amazon doesn't seem to sell it... any ideas? | |

im pretty sure that $220 is in Australian dollars. I would Call Justin and ask him because hes a distributor for OZ Tent. If he doesnt carry at least he can tell you how much and when he can get one in for you.

I hear the NELRC discount isn't $$$ off...it just means that Eric fondles your merchandise in his own 'special' way before actually shipping it to you.

| Tent Finally arrived today and its bigger then I expected... although that could just be my room making it look big. But I'm pumped to use it when I'm at in Moab. I finally have a tent that works for 80% of the camping I do and it is super easy to set up, it really does just pop up and folding is easy I've done it twice so far in my room, only took me 20 seconds or so to figure out. | |

| I'll get some pics of it this week once I get it setup in Moab. I'm pumped to try it out though, should be a good test run out there. I looked at the 10 person, it was pretty nice design and super spacious but then common sense hit being I really don't need that sort of tent out here haha | |

| Ok guys so here are pictures of the Malamoo Xtra as promised In comparison to my truck; All in all it a great tent, the floor of it is a bit weak in my mind, already put a small penny sized hole in it. But last night it got so cold that I woke up with frost on my tent and everything stayed dry inside. Its confy and spacious. Not bad for a small easy to carry 3 person. I'm 6,1 and fit my parts, clothes and sleeping bag in there with plenty of xtra room to roll around with. Some others of just the tent | |

| looks a lot bigger then I thought it would... sucks about the flooring though.. no excuse for that. maybe a tarp underneath would have saved it? | |

| Probably would be a good idea to use a yard of some kind of liner inside also | |

| Yea a simple tarp underneath would have helped. But I was short on time. None the less it is a great tent and I'm vary satisfied with the purchase. Even with the tear, nothing a little ducktape can't fix.
But to add, if you didn't have many bags I would say you could fit 3 people in the tent easily. You would all be lined up next to each other, but it would fit three 6'+ guys easily
