D1 will start but hesitates to restart.....

So this is the very first time that i post anything here.....My name is Raul, I'm a friend of Fern's. i've got a 1996 D1 that will start without any problems but decides that once i shut it off it will not start without a fight.....I gotta wait about 15 to 20 minutes before restarting it. I changed the IACV, TPS too and still nothing, any suggestions?

Did you do anything I told you to do when we spoke? Fuel filter, check the pressure at the rail, replace the vacuum line to the pressure regulator. All those things would be a good start.

It's kinda like the yellow D1 that Fern had, I can tell you what needs to be done to fix it all day long but if you dont listen to what others and myself say the problem isn't going to fix it's self.

the Purge is how I live my life buddy.. You know that. 1 Navy officer amongst my Marine bros.. They start it.. I finish it.. HOOYAH!!!

you get it fixed? one other thing it could be besides the fuel filter and pump is the relay. i think its yellow. sometimes they can become corroded.

I did the fuel filter, pressure, now what i didn't do was the vacuum line....which one was that??

Now as for the relay I'm gonna check it out....

I'm your disciple lord vader.....no seriously, like i told you i really dont wanna get rid of the D1, i got the D2 running better, the black smoke is gone, its still showing me some misfires (can't remember now) but its'd been good so far.....again what you told Fern i kinda followed and did, changed plugs without taking out the intake though....

I've seen the relay go bad but when they do they dont work at all. What year was your D1? I've seen the D1 run and it acted like a fuel issue. I'd check the vacuum line and the regulator. The vacuum line is the one goning from the upper manifold to the fuel rail on the back passenger side of the engine.

ouch! ruthless....I know, he might've gotten just a tad bit in over his head.....I've known the guy since High School, in his defense wife was on his ass.....My D1 is a 1996 SD with 275,000 and going......as for the Infamous D2 My wife loves it....

 Well since you asked, Here's the deal. When Fern brought the parts D2 down to be parted out, I was told that he only owed the owner half of what he was asking. The truth was he never paid him anything and owed him the full amount. I found this out after the fact. Then Fern told me that you were comming down to get a few parts from it. No problem. Any other person that has gotten parts from me has paid me somethig for it. You came down and gutted every part you could get and didnt give me jack shit!!!! I had been up all night at work and needed to get some sleep. So I couldnt see what all you were getting. I told you to leave the center counsel because I needed it and just before you left I got up to see that you gutted every part you could get your hands on including the center counsel. Truth to the whole thing you guys took advantage to the situation and made out like bandits. Now I have to pay the owner $400, you guys have all the parts. Since then the D2 was scraped and I got a whole $200 for it. I'm out $200 with nothing to show for it, I'm not a storage yard. I'm not sure what Fern told you about this whole thing but I'm not holding you to it. In case youre wondering why some people on this board have ill feelings about Fern this is just a small portion of it. You seem like a nice kid, I dont have anything bad to say about you other than it would have been nice to see some money for what you got from the D2. If I thought you were a douche, I would not have offerd any advice on how to fix your D1.

now i understand the whole, not a good reference......now as for the stuff from the D2 i only got what he said I could, just like the XD i kinda got caught in midst of a pretty damn bad storm....if you want the center console, i still got it.....I Honestly thought that i was getting what i had paid for when I bought the D2 from Fern.....if i had known the rest of the story i dont think I would have gone down by myself to get the stuff.....you guys had things that needed to be dealt with apparently

didnt you help me get the console out? you said that it wasnt gonna fit the rangie adaptation you were doing......like i said though i still got it, if anyone is in the bergen county area and is going down by you maybe they can pick it up....now as for money im kinda tight, so cant offer that....

So i finally have an update on my little technical issue......I checked everything i was suggested, and finally i changed the two yellow relays, and that finally made all my problems go away.....i've been driving it for about 2 weeks now and it seems to be running like a champ, thanks a lot guys!

well it's been almost 2 years since this post asking for help....it was finally fixed by Vinnie from Rover Specialist in Garfield, NJ.....it was the damn fuel pump!!! thanks for those who gave me some advice and tips and what not.....i figured that it was best for me to finish the post by putting in the conclusion to the problem.
