- well the old case is out, the new case is in. we got it all done last night with the exception of re-hanging the exhaust and rear shaft, and finding a way to get the cross brace back on the frame because all of the bolts holding it in snapped. we'll prob weld it or something... idk.
the old case grinds and binds very badly when turning by hand. honestly im surprised it wasnt making a lot more noise than it did (it made none except on extreme turns where it would bind and release violently)
The new case went in pretty easily, had all the right plugs, and even a plug for the CDL indicator was already hanging free on the truck? it shifts into hi/lo without any drama. all thats left now is to fill it with juice and we'll be in business.
unfortunately i dont have a pinion flange yet (ordered and shipped just not here) for my new rear shaft i got from jake... im excited to have it back on the road and will be trail riding it on sunday if all goes well. sucks you wont have it done saturday! you could come wheeling with us sat night in the pines. It will be done tonight hopefully. I'm going to reuse my stock shaft for now. i dont have the CDL linkage worked up just yet. either way. im booked solid all day saturday but will be out wheeling sunday with a bunch of local Heeps.

| well its in and the truck runs awesome ... but.
we drove it up and down the road to burger king and back and it drove great with no problems.
on the way back home from the shop though. the check engine light (service engine soon) came on... truck still runs great... idk what the problem could be. i was going about 70 the whole ride home.
also. because the cross brace bolts all broke off, we left the whole brace off. it rides fine on the road... im wondering if that will ever be a problem or if i should just leave it off and not worry about it ?

Anybody running a +3 lift on a D2 has to remove cross member anyway.... Gotta get those codes - run it to an auto parts store or somebody who has an OBD2 scanner. May have something to do with wiring harnesses and or transmission.. I'd get it checked out asap (obviously thats why they put the light there) lol

- Do you have cdl light?
i dont really see why i would ... since its an 02 lol. but there was a wire/plug just hanging there from the truck when we took the other case out, not attached to anything. so we plugged it in there as it was the only thing to plug it into ? i'll see what the autozone scan says. ive been doing some reading, and apparently some of the earlier cases "dont have a switch to tell the computer if its in hi or low" i dont mind the light being on really, as long as i know nothing is wrong with it . i've had the 3 amigos since the day i got it

| ok got my codes, better news than expected i suppose.
code 1 - P0140 - O2 sensor. probably from the exhaust being covered in Tcase grease when we took it down.
code 2 - P1590 - which seems to be attributed to abs which is not a surprise being that my 3 amigos are on anyway.
they wouldnt clear the codes at autozone which is ... annoying. So i'll have to find a way to clear them otherwise.
the good news is she runs like a champ. I drove it to work today, cruising about 80mph and it drove smoothe as BUTTER.

It's a newer federal law that they can't erase them.. Has to do with emissions testing and shit.

They told me that it was to stop people from going to clear there codes, then driving to get their car inspected. Autozone by me would allow me to clear the codes myself with their machine, but the reader at advance auto doesn't even have a option to clear the codes. I got so tired of having to get the codes cleared about every other month because some gas attendant didn't tighten the cap down, that I bought a bluetooth OBD scanner, and can clear codes with my phone.

| trail tested the truck today in the pines between 206 and 72 south of 70. it did GREAT. i stayed out of the mega deep stuff but wound up in a little over the door bottoms a bunch of times. and some slippery climbs out of the slop with trees very close on both sides.
went out with a buddy with a jeep on 33" duratrac's and we had a good time. wound up hooking up with 2 yotas on solid axles and 42s with lockers and followed them through a section that was easy for them but a real blast for us... just hard enough to take some thought without breaking anything.
