| Okay so I though I had gotten rid of those little fuckers for good this time but alas no such luck. I put in the new shuttle valve, changed the o-rings and the ohms were within normal ranged when I tested it before putting the ABS unit back together.
Symptoms: Dash B.R.A.K.E light came on along with ABS and TC (3rd Amigo followed about a minute later), utlra gauge threw up P1590 error code. Brakes are squealing but I think that's because I cheaped out with TRW pads instead of Akebono's, that will soon be changed.
What I checked: Front pads look like they will need replacing soon but they are still at around 40-35% pad left, brake fluid level is good and I wiped the back wheel sensors off when I replaced the rotors and back caliper. Now when I turn the Truck back on only the ABS light stays on when in the past with the shuttle valve error all three would return when starting the truck.
I have sent a PM to Ed for the Amigo scanner but I was just wondering if anyone had run into this before.

| Hush, I love my D2 and if I'm dropping $4k to get rid of the amigos for good it will be spent on lockers. | |

| when was the last time you gave it a good wash? last time mine came on it was just brake dust. sounds like it could be a hub or sensor issue though if its not coming on right away. | |

| It's probably going to be a hub, I don't know if they were ever changed so it would be around the right time that they started going. | |

This option works best after installation of front and rear lockers.

This option works best after installation of front and rear lockers. Correct, and with my new job I can afford to have a run around and make the Land Rover a trail rig. Although I think the lockers will be the last to go in, still have the winch and roof rack to go.

| for the love of God, just suck it up and do the whole ABS shuttle vale repair with external grounding (see Land Rovers Only Jcylas for virgin islands sticky). It's a pain in the tail repair, requires a little electrical know-how and some soldering finesse, but did the work on mine after buying more that 3 years ago and it was the best 2 hours and $8 I ever spent. Let me know if you want help. I did this bit of 'surgery' on four others here locally over the past few years and there or no failures so far. | |

| did you get it solved yet kev? it sounds like a hub or sensor issue. since you said the light doesnt come on until your rolling it could be the hub that has the slightest wobble to it and is causing the sensor to cut in and out of range and giving you the fault. needless to say u can pick up a used hub from Randy or Paul Grant and they have the sensors in em....... the only time i had 3 amigos from pads was a dust issue and it was solved with a water hose. | |

| I hosed the wheels down on Tuesday and the Amigos turned off by them selves, I will run the truck this week and see if they come up again (going to be mostly highway now so if it is the hub it should come back). I just scanned it again this afternoon and the codes are still showing as "active" however the P1590 hasn't come back after I cleared it. I'll mail the scanner back to you on Friday along with the D-clam hitch you lent me for the Pines trip.
Edit: Doc I'll probably do the bypass next weekend, when I changed the gaskets I took the voltmeter and made sure everything was within the good ohms range and it was but I guess with that it is only a matter of time until I'll have to do it anyway so might as well do it now.

Dammit.. When I saw the topic I thought it had to do with the Isuzu... 2 guys came by me today while I was getting out of the D1 with a lifted Amigo and a modded Vehicross... They wanted to hang out and go wheeling one day... Weird... Chris

Chris Lol, no it's a common issue with the D2. Thankfully those little shits have yet to reappear since I did the fix.

I know right? Probably one of the easiest things I've had to fix on the Disco, $130 ($10 for the six pack) and a Saturday afternoon.

| All I had to do on mine was the switches and the reground. Got the switches from Paul Grant for 30buxs shipped. And the best part was didnt have to bleed the lines, never cracked them. just pulled the lines out clips and propped it up. | |

| that's exactly how I did my friends when she dropped her truck off a few years back. propped it up kept the lines connected. i have a theory that it fails because people dont use the HDC often enough.... lol. so when I had my D2 i would engage HDC once a month and go down a hill and i put nearly 45,000 miles on that truck sold it with 150~ and never had to do the ABS MOD fix on my truck.... | |
