Hi all, I am new to the Disco world. I have been a long time owner of several BMWs but recently got caught and stuck in a snow storm in one of them and decided to buy a 2003 Disco II as winter vehicle. I absolutely love the truck. I have owned it for about 3 weeks and have already experienced my right of passage as a Land Rover owner. Within 3 days, I was under the hood replacing the power steering pump. Several days later, my dash started lighting up like a Christmas tree.
When I bought the vehicle, the previous owner informed me that the ABS light would come on from time to time but after turning off the vehicle, it would reset and there would be no issue. True to his word, I experienced the same thing on a few occasions. I thought no big deal at first. This week, I the 3 amigos appeared on the cluster - plus the hand brake light. I immediately turned off the vehicle and, again, all was good...no lights. Today, i heard three chimes followed by the appearance of the 3 amigos. I turned off the vehicle, lights went away. I drove a mile or two lights came back on. Due to this, I assumed it was a speed sensor. But now, if turn off the vehicle the lights go away but within 30 seconds they appear again. I am not sure if its the SVS or sensor.
I have researched the issue. I feel pretty comfortable under the hood but without a scan tool for the ABS system, I would just be throwing parts at it and/or doing work arounds (i.e., modulator repair -. option B). Would anyone in South Central PA be willing to scan my Disco or have an ABS amigo they would be willing to rent? I live in Hanover (York County) and work in York. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg
