| This will be our first winter run into the Pines. This trip and it's difficulty is solely determined by the weather leading up to the trip. Water crossings will become iced over possibly frozen solid dependent on depth. It will be too cold for camping, so we are going to do just that. We are staying in small cabins which the campsite refers to as lean to's, at $30/night they say they fit 6 but i would say comfortably 3 or 4 people. each cabin has a wood burning stove to keep you warm all night. You CAN NOT book a cabin in advance, we can check in at the campsite at 4pm. We will wheel from 11am until 4 or 5 then go check into the cabins and grab dinner, after dinner around 7 we will head back into the pines for a late run for those who are interested in wheeling in the dark and spotting the Jersey Devil. We will wheel again Sunday morning after breakfast and wheel until the early afternoon. There is no cost to enter the park. The only charge is for the cabin. If you would like to stay in a hotel there are a few around. Please note that all trucks must be registered, inspected and have plates. These are considered "roads" and there is police patrolling. We ran into a cop around midnight on the trails our last run in December. The Sand & Snow event shirt and hoody is now for sale http://nelrc.spreadshirt.com/ Here is the map, with meeting spot and times, as well as pictures of the lean to's and the dinner spot for saturday night. http://g.co/maps/g9fjv Early weather reports are calling for snow on Thursday and Sunday.

| Thanks for setting this up but the Pines look, well boring. Am I wrong? I don't mind a deep puddle but I need rocks and hills. Not feeling it... | |

You have to go and check it out. Its fun to not worry about a rock destroying your diffs. Here u have serious water crossing and sand. Hopefully we wil have some snow on the ground and with ice covered water crossings it will be dangerous.. A dd the dark of night and I bet it will be harder than any trail at rausch.

| Being a college student, I'll probably camp too. Just have to build a huge fire. I'm sure we will have the whole campsite to ourselves. | |

| if this coming winter looks to be anything like last winter, I'm already planning on buying chains. I got tired if getting stuck on my way to and from work on completely unplowed roads, with 3 feet of snow. | |

I need to look up the chain laws around here that sounds like a winner.

I need to look up the chain laws around here that sounds like a winner. in NJ: 39:3-73. Tire-chains Motor vehicle tires may be fitted with tire-chains of reasonable proportions when roads, streets and highways are slippery, because of rain, snow, ice, oil, manner of construction or other reason; provided, however, that no tire-chains shall be used at any time on improved highways when highway conditions do not make such use necessary for the safety of life or property. No person shall use any tire-chains so constructed or installed as to be likely to be thrown so as to endanger any person or property. in PA: 75 Pa. Cons. Stat. § 4525 (d) Tire chains.--Tire chains may be temporarily used on vehicles during periods of snow and ice emergency if they are in conformance with regulations promulgated by the department. In NY, the only law regarding chains is that they are required during a declared snow emergency.

| i have been looking at places to stay and im thinking the hojo in Hammonton might be our best bet. there is a walmart nearby and multiple food spots, and it's one of the closest to the trails. im going to call and see if i can block off rooms and get a discount. if anyone else sees anything that might be a better choice let me know. | |

| That campground we stopped at last trip has cabins you can stay in, but I don't know if they're open that time of year.
***Disregard, they're closed from mid-november until march 1st.
