Rovers on the Rocks 3, 11/11/11 - 11/13/11

dana is going to the new property for sure on Friday. on Saturday I would like to do something like J1, J2, 11, 14, 11, 19-b, 11, H, 10-b, play around the hills if we have a minute before lunch.... then after lunch do something like H, 12 B, 10 a, 10 b, 18b, 18 a, 23 backwards, 11, then back out H.

I would be interested in the after lunch run for sure. I guess we can all figure it out when it comes time to getting the groups together after lunch.

I'll be game for going on the new side one day or the other. I'll be coming up sat morning so if anyone breaks something or needs something let me know.

Yo Yo Yo, back early from RotR and it was great!

Many members there and it was great to see everyone and meet some folks. A LOT of Land Rovers there, I venture to guess about 40-50!

I went with a intermediate group on Friday but still had fun. A few guys from Fort Pitt Land Rover Group, a random LR3 (crazy Sam) and Jake. A little slower than I like but interesting nine-the-less. The LR3 did rather well, especially since the owner was not afraid to damage it - noice...

One guy from FPLRG (Bill) had a Series and used it...hard. That thing did stuff I could not believe. All stock except an air locker and a bungee cord to (kind of) hold the driver's door shut.

Another gentleman, Bruce, had a 5 speed Disco that looked mild but he drove it hard. He did everything that Jake and I did without blinking. Very cool.

Then there was Dave from Fort Pitt. He gave Doc a run for his money with leaving D2 bits throughout the forest. Back bumper bits, front bumper bits and most of a cat-back exhaust.

Good camping with a bunch of great people. Two fires going and a lot of fun. I made come-ons to Jake but he wasn't having any of it, maybe another time.

Saturday (today) followed up with some more good 4-wheeling. New group after as I was looking for a bit more aggressive terrain. Jake, Brian (LongHaul), Ryan (newbie), Jake and Bruce from Fort Pitt. A more mobile bunch with a higher threshold than Friday. We started the morning with the Rock Garden (black) and some more fun before my truck quit. Brian S. towed me back. We watched the competition while eating Brian F.'s tasty chili.

I went back to troubleshooting my truck and other groups broke up to go out on the trail. Brian S. helped me fix my truck and we went out until dark.

Tons of Disco's, a few Series, a lot of D90s and a few 110's. Great event, great ball busting and good food. Thanks to British4x4Specialsts.com (formerly RoverLab) and Lucky8. More importantly, thanks to Ed for creating the NELRC and its f-ed up group of Rover wheelers.

Definitely worth the drive. Looking fwd to wheeling with you guys in the future.

Awesome weekend all around. Could have done with a little less carnage but that comes with the territory I suppose. It was great to see everybody, camping was a good time even though it was cold. The new side of Rausch is pretty sweet. I think I only did one trail twice the entire 3 day weekend. Kinda sucks I got second place on the rock challenge by 1 second but I guess there is always next year. I left RC at like 2:00 and got home at 6:00.. But I made it home!

I think Friday was probably the best day of the weekend, Sunday wasn't bad either except for the spark plug issue and the trip home...Thanks to Brian S for saving the day when I was misfiring on the way home. The new set of plugs seemed to work out well but something else is broken causing a pretty bad vibration.

Time to build my truck up stronger and better for the next time

I had a great time this past weekend. It was good to get out with some Rover enthusiasts, there aren't any around me. If anyone has a picture of my truck going through lake christy, could you post it for me, I don't think I've seen one yet.

I thought I got away from the trip unscathed, but now I have a rotational squeal coming from up front, maybe the driveshaft?? I need to investigate further.
