what did you do to your disco today?

Picked up my front bumper and got my rear recovery points welded on while I was there. The rear recovery points are 7" long, 1" thick blocks of steel that Mitch cut, drilled and welded in the front and rear. There's no way that they're going anywhere. If anyone needs welding done, definitely give Mitch (Shelmar Welding) a call.





Fresh paint on the front and rear bumpers and they'll be ready to go.

Thanks! Hoping to have the front bumper on with the winch hooked up by tomorrow. I always get asked what the "M" on that skid plate is for.
Bumper is painted.

How did you bend the tubing?

I have a JD2 model 4 tube bender that I traded an AR15 for on Craigslist.
I built a stand for it and have 1.5 inch and 1.75 inch dies for it.

Wow wish you were closer, tried a muffler shop today after work but thier bender leaves shoe marked in the bends

Because I keep my spare tire inside the truck I decided I needed a place for the cooler for the weekend trip next month.
So I built this today..


A little under-engineered, it touches the wiper arm and pushes away from the door when the lid is up.

I thought about the Columbia Overland aluminum skidplates but decided to make a steel one.
My frame is shortened and the trailer hitch is removed.
I use the fuel tank skid quite a bit more without the protection of the trailer hitch.
My rear crossmember was bent into an arch from landing on the trailer hitch.

I don't intentionally rock crawl so this should be plenty of protection for a plastic tank

Carpets were wet and spongy so I cut them out. Easier for when I flood it anyway. It looks pretty ugly but a little bit of paint will clean it up.

My floors looked worse, clean, prime, bed liner

Remember in the future when you are welding patches on your floors that bedliner is flammable.
Floor caught on fire in the corner behind the pass side kick panel, this is the result of maybe 1 to 1.5 minutes of fire.
Days and days of cutting and splicing the harness back together under the dash.
This is how I know this.

4" RTE lift (3" coils + 1" rear spacer) installed in the rear. Still have to do the front then I'll order shocks.

They've seen a lot of abuse. Brett can correct me if I'm wrong, but they're 3 years old. Both the springs and shocks are beat and rusty. I'd be curious to see the size difference between both of them new, and both of them 3 years old.

I built a plate to transport the bumper I made without using the trailer.
I am going to sell this one, hoping to deliver it at the Vermont trip next month.
If the buyer and I get on the same page.
Here is a picture of the bumper mounted to the plate in the trailer hitch.
Need some big lights to mount back there too.
