| Robesonia, PA this was posted over on the ROVERS forum. the work days for the trial are: October 15th and 16th. we need as much help as possible. since david had a logging company come in and take a few trees it has left some open areas and new pathes. all NEW trails will be made. October 22nd the novice will go then the 23rd its the advance. cookout on the 22nd and it looks like a potluck dinner for that night with camping (no hookup) at the top of the mountain. im working on some sponsors and hoping to pull something out my hat. we will work on a menu for the cookout (need some one to work the grill) would like to have someone take charge on getting the potluck dinner together. if anything else come up i will try and post it ASAP description of what trials are thanks to Dave.It is a series of flexible posts placed approximately the width of a Rover apart in the wilderness. Your job is to drive THROUGH them without touching them. There are 10 "gates" in each course. The further you get in each course without touching a post, the LESS points you get. Lowest score wins. There will be two courses. One for novice and one for advanced. RSVP on Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=207237419334465 Robesonia, PA. (1 hour N.W. from Philadelphia) 101 East Mountain Ave., Robesonia, PA. 19551 Kindly hosted by the McMullan family | |

| So I just watched one of the videos from the spring get together.
How hard are the trails? It looks like nobody can make it though without knocking over the markers

It looks like nobody can make it though without knocking over the markers well in the spring there was only one course with 10 sections each section had 10 gates. i think for the fall they are going to set up 2 courses one that will have harder trails and one that will be novice. it is very very tight and very technical. i struggled in the spring becaues my turning radius was so bad because of the sway bars. people with wheel spacers will have a better turning radius but will have more trouble getting inbetween the gates. brett did very well last year i think he got third place. dana does well cuz of his short wheelbase of his 90.

Wheel spacers, skinny tires and a shorter wheelbase than the d2's.. Now I just have to learn to drive with control! We will see!!

| Just locked this down on the family calendar.... i'm totally in. The real question now is how much can I build my truck between now and then? I need front and rear bumpers, probably a winch, I need to install the new Transfer Case with the appropriate CDL shifter, and get the rock sliders and diff guards on. In the perfect world i would have really cool powerful Hella's with hood black-out and a rear ladder with roof rack to make everything look cool like all the other cool kids....
Feel like I'm chasing Ed in the magical overnight Rover transformation....

I like that ARB style a lot but want to have a hassle-free install experience. Also want to see how his AB rear bumper installation goes because i may want to replicate that as well. I'd spend the money for a new rear bumper but am definitely going the second hand market on front. Also plan to get the sliders ASAP, given the fact that my plastic crap got eaten alive on this last trip it just emphasized their importance (even though they got chewed by rocks before the lift).

| rear bumper is real easy. it's 4 bolts. the only problem with mine is, i beat my plastic stock one up so bad it bent the mounts so when i put my new bumper on i could only get 2 of the 4 bolts in. i will have to bend the mount tab back down so i can get the other 2 bolts on, those last 2 bolts also hold the hitch in. overall I'm very happy with the bumper. it took a few shots this weekend in those crazy mountains upstate. as for the front bumper i'm not really sure how it will work because jake has the air bag compatiable one, so it fits over the crush cans. I think the mounting holes were the same. Jake can you take a pic of the inside and outside mounting holes? then at least I can explain to Fodge how to install it. | |

Cool, thanks Ed. would love to get as much stuff done as i can before this event. i was hoping to get one more trip in before but it looks like between work travel and weekends booked from here to kingdom come the weekend of Robesonia is the only one I can get away for until ROR.

Feel like I'm chasing Ed in the magical overnight Rover transformation.... Get your truck done for Robesonia? ha! A bone stock truck won 1st place in the Spring. He ran with his GF and dog in the truck. This ain't the place for all the mods you need for off-roading. Its more about control of what you got. Brian - your giant turd (I get to call it that since I pulled it up a mountain) would not do well. Get Corie's rig ready. She can drive it too! You can run the truck through twice.

| I had two ARB bumpers before I got "smart" and got a Rovertym.
Just sayin'...ARB's are for hitting kangaroos and driving across the brush, not for PA mountains and rocks.
ARB = (Approach) Angle Reducing Bumper
Having said that, Ed went through more shit with that ARB hanging off the front of his truck then I could imagine. Good driver, he is...

I like the ARB. i find the approach angle hasn't been all that bad. the only times i have hit it maybe twice or three times is when im coming down steep angled hills onto flat surfaces. i have hit the roller fairlead then. but everything is bolted on with grade 8 mil spec hardware so it will take more than a bump of dirt at 3mph to destroy my truck. plus i like the fact at Robesonia i can just drive thru trees and not worry about them coming near my hood.

I just like hearing you say "grade 8 mil spec hardware". When he says everything - he means everything on his entire truck is grade 8 mil spec. Ed has a one of a kind "Grade 8 Mil Spec LR Discovery"
