NELRC at Mettowee 8/19/11 - 8/21/11

This will be our first run up to Mettowee. I have spoken to the park owners and they seem willing to work with us on any of our club needs. The cost is $25/day per truck to wheel. Passengers are $5 kids under 7 are free. There is no membership fee like Rausch. Camping is $10 a day. They have varied trail difficulty from rock crawling to trails for stock trucks to 5' deep mud bogs. The park is 200 acres. Most of what they advertise is the mud bogs but the property is huge and i have seen video of some of the regular trails and they look great. They also have excellent ratings from Petersens and Off Road Intl.

We will be arriving on Friday and we can camp right on premesis Friday and Saturday night. It's a carry-in carry-out facility, and the camping is primitive.

It will be great to see everyone at Mettowee and I'm looking forward to exploring a new park and possibly the home of our annual event.

I have a ton of cooking stuff now finally so I wont be (as much) of a freeloader.

Truck will be a beast by that time!

Hopefully I'll have a full on coleman stove top like Ed by then. If not I have a small propane stove like Doc Fodge had on the last trip. I got a pot a frying pan and best of all a french press for making coffee.

i was thinking of picking up some long kebab sticks and making kebabs, freezing them before we go, and then cooking them over the fire. or since you got a pot i could bring chili and we could heat it up there. ill bring my fancy egg crate for some breakast items and probably jackies famous chicken salad for lunch.

I can bring some chili, any preferences? I made some chili when we camped in PA. Worked out great.

i have no preference when it comes to chili. ill eat beef, bean, turkey, spicy or not. i should make some jerky.

Good deal I figured I'd bring some beef chili (and some veggie if Hannah comes which I dont think she will be) and I'll bring some bacon or other breakfast meats and I am also on with the kabob Idea. freeze some steak kabobs with onions, peppers, mushrooms. Oh god I need to go eat something now.

I'm in. I will bring 4 gallons of potato salad or some famous hamloaf from the local deli....

Well my truck is doing that overheating bull shit again. I need to check today if I am losing coolant but last I checked it was fine and no contamination. I'm praying it's not head gaskets.

Maybe it's the water pump? I think a trip to see Trevor may be on my agenda once I move to PA.

Water pumps generally go "bad" as the seal starts to leak - not due to a lack of pumping.

I'd look to the radiator. Mine was clogged up and I replaced it. You can get them cooked but it is best to replace. The problem is that the D1 radiators are expensive. Randy usually has one around. That is where I got my like-new one.

I had an dumb ass moment tonight and thought I had my fan on backward. so I took it all apart but Trevor suggested I drop the fan shroud and radiator again the engine and see if there is debris built up.. so I will drop that down and check on the flip side. My radiator didnt look bad when I drained it and ran water through it. I'm just going to tow it to PA and then get back to work on it from there.

i was FUMING. by the time I got to Rausch. Trev was like yeah she is crazy but you gotta just brush it off because its the closest place and has the best setup. She also made a comment like we need a minimum of 50 people to have that area again. If she won't give us the area then i rather go to camp-a-while
