| you will be welding stuff up for Discovery 6's by then... word on the street is that Land Rover is going to make a big announcement to bust back into the off-road market.. something else besides the defender. i also heard that they are bringing the discovery badge back so maybe the Discovery 5 will be more off-road based. or possibly a new model. | |

thats awesome!! I ordered a set of TF springs to replace the old RTE's that are just way too soft. When Dave told me it was scary watching my truck go down the road because of the body roll I knew it was time.

Can they release camel trophy edition trucks if the race no longer exists? I'd love a limited edition. Brand new. Super shiny. Very capable ct truck.

Ed I read an article after the DC100 was first shown saying that Land Rover is doing away with the number badges in North America (ie.) LR2 & LR3.

| looks like im getting some d2 terrafirma under belly armor from Justin to try out... no one knows how it bolts up or fits. so Sunday I will be figuring that out along with a full service on the rangie, also pulling the headliner on the rangie banging out a dent in the roof and getting some paint matched to the fabric so i can paint it and hopefully reinstall it during the week. the disco is running great, ran two bottles of techron thru the tank when it was 3/4full and it's a lot happier. althought he alternator doesnt sound the happiest it's ever been. Towards the end of the month I'm going to order a blue sea fuse box and reroute all my auxillary wiring thru it. oh yeah and then jackies subaru the fuckin relay went on the low beam headlights so i need to solve that... i found a boat i want. looks like im going to be joining a few new forums. | |

| Ed, what kind of boat are you after? Having 5 different boats over the years I know a little about them. I gotta say Chapparal was my favorite cabin cruiser by far and if I were to buy another thats what it would be. | |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axzMyhAbU4I WTF Bacon on the hoof? Or are you asking out of shock that the thread hasn't degenerated to a discussion who is gayer...Dave, Brett, or Jake? BTW...just to get back on topic...The Red D1 passed inspection and continues to run great *knock-on-wood*. It has been my daily driver for the past couple weeks while I'm slowly getting the D2 ready for the Maine Winter Romp. The driver's seat has me stumped though...the motors weren't bad, but the switch was. I replaced the switch, but the forward and back seems to jam up. (Guess I'm taking the seat all the way apart tonight...that and replacing the pitman arm to try to take up some of the slack in the steering.)

D1's love a steering box and swivel pin adjustment after every 100k or so. I am going to guess it has never been done on that truck and the P.O. prior to Brian ran those chunky thornbirds which probably just wore out all the steering components. On my agenda.. Sent the Tom Woods back to Utah to get rebuild have the tube/grease fitting fixed and balanced. I picked up 3 of these today to do the GBR rear shaft since I didnt put joints in it when I bought it. If I one of these wears out in 3 months then I know I have a drive line angle issue... Picked up a spare for the trails too since it's the same UJ the Tom Woods takes.. Gonna finish that up tonight and see how it drives on the highway - May swap back to dynabeads too since I keep knocking off the god damn wheel weights...

Yeah, until last night that was next on my agenda. When I went to work on the seat adjustment I noticed the floor was damp...apparently it has started to rot out under the door sill plates. I pulled all of the carpet and padding out of the front. It looks like I'll be welding in some patches before I get to replacing the pitman arm and adjusting the steering box. Of course, all of this needs to go on hold for a week or two while I get the D2 back up to speed for the Maine Winter Romp...

Yea I got this on my project list for the summer time.. my white one has similar rust in the same place. Would like to get rid of carpet and padding completely but even with the carpet I removed in the rear the road noise has increased a ton.. I am also thinking about parting this black truck and keeping the axles for a rebuild and regear when I get new gears and HD CV's and sewer caps - This way I can do all new wheel bearings, swivel pins and seals and maybe even castor corrected balls. Obviously all of that shit = $$$$$$

| Don't you already have caster correcting radius arms? Why castor correcting balls in addition to? Bring me the spare front axle, and after we'll cut and turn it, pointing the pinion towards the transfer, and welding on the sewer cap. | |

| Finally finished the shackle mount the other day, after some grinding, flap disking, and some flat black rattlecan. The 7/8" shackle looks huge compared to the ones on my front bumper. I also finally got around to putting d1 wiper arms on. They made quite a difference coming home from work in the snow the other day. | |

| Finally got my +2" brake lines on, and started the fluid flush. it got too cold and dark so i bailed on it, i'll wrap it up tomorrow along with a camel cut, and changing the gear oil in my diffs, fixing my cb ground and re routing my axel breathers. it's gonna be a busy sunday. once i do the breathers and hub seals and di-electric the connections, then i'll start hunting for a mantec snorkel. One step at a time | |
